The Heart Behind Found + Maed

Found + Maed was founded to help individuals remember that their identity is found in the one who made them.

All throughout Scripture there are reminders centered around people’s identity that they can hold to. Beginning in Genesis 1:27 we see that God made people in his image. This does not mean that we literally look like God. But it does mean that we have intrinsic value as we reflect who he is to the world around us.

People turn to many different things and people as they seek to find identity. For me personally I can name a list of things I have subconsciously turned to throughout different seasons in my life. One of the most prominent ways I sought to find identity was in my grades in high school. I was constantly working to get the best grades in hopes that I would be known as a good student who ended up being successful in the world. As I sought after these grades I found myself wrapped in anxiety as I had forgotten where my identity truly lies.

When we forget where our worth and identity truly lie we find ourselves never feeling satisfied. Ultimately, people will only be truly satisfied when they recognize what Scripture teaches. Genesis 1:27 clearly lays out that we are made in the image of God. Psalms 139:13-14 reminds people that we are fearfully and wonderfully made in the image of God. Ephesians 2:10 points people back to the fact that we are God’s handiwork.

We need to rest in the fact that our identity is not found in anything we say or do but it is in the fact that our identity is found in the one who made us.
